Cara Duggan awarded Brian Johnston Memorial scholarship

Cara Duggan has been awarded a prestigious Brian Johnston Memorial scholarship for the second successive year. Cara, an U15 fast bowling all-rounder who is also on the Southern Vipers Regional Development Centre, has been awarded scholarship to help with the expenses involved in playing and training across the different teams she represents for the 2018 season.

Brian Johnston's 47 years of broadcasting, his passion for England and its great national sport of cricket, along brought him into the hearts and minds of millions of people worldwide. As a memorial his family, together with many eminent members of the cricketing and broadcasting world, set up a trust fund to further the causes that were close to Brian's heart.The BJMT provides scholarships to young male and female cricketers at county level who are in genuine financial need.

In the 2017 season, Cara took 26 wickets and scored 271 runs whilst representing Buckinghamshire Under 15s, Under 17s and the Women’s team, including taking 4/20 vs Hertfordshire U17s and scoring 42* vs Worcestershire U17s. Her 2018 County season gets underway this coming Saturday 12th May, with an U15 ECB Cup fixture away to Essex.
